2014 Michigan Capitol Ornament

The 2014 Michigan State Capitol ornament honors our state's coat-of-arms, designed by Michigan Territorial Governor Lewis Cass. It features an elk and a moose flanking a shield bearing the image of a settler standing on a peninsula of land. An eagle, as seen on the United States coat of arms, floats above the shield.

Michigan's coat of arms contains three Latin mottos: "E Pluribus Unum" (Out of many, one), "Tuebor" (I will defend) and "Si Quæris Peninsulam Amœnam Circumspice" (If you seek a pleasant peninsula, look about you).
