In 1997 the City of Lansing celebrated the 150th anniversary of the state's decision to move Michigan's capital city from Detroit to rural Lansing Township in Ingham County. This colorful poster, issued for the city's sesquicentennial celebration, features a collection of Lansing landmarks including the Capitol's pediment sculpture, The Rise and Progress of Michigan.
Signed posters bear the signatures of Michigan Governor John Engler and Lansing Mayor David Hollister.
