2012 Michigan Capitol Ornament

The 10th in the series of Limited Edition ornaments commemorating Michigan's beautifully restored State Capitol. The Inner Dome inspires beauty and symbolism. The Visitor's eyes are drawn to the stars in the oculus which represent Michigan's future and potential. Beneath the stars you see a colorful band of coffered panels, cornices and pilasters which showcase the beautiful Victorian decorative paint motifs. Eight classically styled allegorical figures are found near the bottom of the inner dome, each framed by elegant pilasters. These were painted by Italian artist Tommaso Juglaris and represent education, the fine arts, agriculture, law, the sciences, justice, industry and trade and commerce.
