2015 Michigan Capitol Ornament

Among the projects accomplished during the Capitol's recent renewal (2014-2016) was the painting of our iconic dome. Designed by architect Elijah E. Myers, the dome is topped by a slender and delicate lantern. The 2015 Michigan Capitol ornament showcases the freshly painted and restored lantern bathed in the glow of moonlight as it emerges from scaffolding.
